Photography Catch Up

Day 11: Three of a Kind

Tying in with national pet day, I used this day to promote pet adoptions by posting glamour shots of my three fur babies.

I also posted their pictures on the adoption agencies (Happy Home Animal Sanctuary and Adopt a Rescue Pet) where we found them to show how loved they are.

I know some of my friends have purchased pets from breeders and that's their choice.  However, with how full animal shelters are, I can't make that choice.

Day 12: On My Left

In the very limited amount of time I spent outside, my sinus infection has returned.  I'm just really, really sick of being sick.

(On the bright side, I scored a light purple mask this time!)

I went back to the doctor, got another round of medication, and have been hibernating for the past few days to try to shake this off.

On my left, my beautiful nurse.

She's very quick to steal my heating pad.  She's great like that.

Photography Challenge (Catch Up) and the start of Spring Break

At precisely 3:31 pm yesterday, Spring Break started.  At 3:40, I was in my car.  By 3:53, I had a tall Blue Moon in front of me and four giggly coworkers in our booth at PT's for girls' night.

#feedyoursoul #ladytribe

Glorious, glorious decisions.  I'd like to brag and say we had a wild night, but I was in pajamas by 7 pm and out by 8.  It'd be a long week!

Photography Challenge Recap

Day 5: "Not Mine"

Technically I took this picture on day 4, but saved it for Wednesday.  Tuesday was my work wife's birthday, so I snuck into her classroom before she got there and decorated on behalf of the grade level.

I did get caught by two other teachers, so I'm clearly not up on my ninja skills.

She felt loved and valued, so that's what matters.

Day 6: "Spring Is In The Air"

Spring means my allergies are a mess.  We are dealing with some epic winds and drastic temperature changes, which doesn't help.  I'm on a daily decongestant, nasal steroid, and Allegra to keep things contained.

I also frequently wear a face mask while outside, so I decided to have a glamour shoot with my mask.  It's my favorite accessory to any spring day.

Day 7: "Where I'd Rather Be"

First, my bed. We have a new bed and I love naps.

Second, I wanted to be at happy hour.  As posted above, we made that happen pretty much as soon as possible after work ended.

Third, I want to be on my honeymoon!

In July, the hubs and I are off on a grand adventure.  We'll be visiting some friends in Florida, going to Harry Potter World, and then off to an island resort in the Dutch Caribbean for a week of relaxing and outdoor adventures.  The fur babies will be staying with my momma.  We'll be back in town for a few days before both of us have to return to work.

Day 8: "Hobbies"

One of my hobbies is getting dressed up with my hubby and celebrating.  Tonight we're celebrating a fellow teacher's wedding.  She's one of the kindest people and we're thrilled to get to share in her special day.  We are sharing a table with some other fun coworkers and there's an open bar, so two other hobbies (drinking and selfies) will also be occurring!

I've cleaned out my phone for the night so Facebook will be filled with pictures tomorrow!

Photography Challenge, Days 3 & 4

I've been consistent with posting to social media each day, but since I don't blog from my phone, this sometimes gets forgotten. I'm working on it.

For April's photography challenge,

Here are days 3 and 4.

Day 3

Yesterday was "shapes".  I chose to rock my new Carly (Lularoe dress) which I got for free for hosting an in home party.

The geometric shape design reminds me of a mermaid, which quite frankly was a huge selling point.  Additionally, I could wear a small, which was another boost for my ego.  (On a side note, I didn't win the biggest loser contest at work, but I did lose ten pounds and am continuing with the small tweaks I've made to my diet.)

I'm also rocking my new {Younique} lipstain in speechless.  It's got an orange-nude tone and I like it!

While it gets a tad annoying to have to wash all my Lularoe items on delicate, the fabrics are incredibly soft and it's like wearing pajamas to work...except it's socially appropriate.  As the weather heats up, I'll be continuing to wear a lot of dresses to work.  Plus it was a Monday, and new clothes seem to make Mondays go a little better.

Day 4

I actually snapped tomorrow's picture today too, so don't mind the matching outfit.  Day 4 was "good together".

I've got some awesome parents this year and it seemed like the perfect time to brag about them.  Between sending in extra supplies, making sure we're stocked for class parties, chaperoning field trips, donating to our {donors choose} projects, or sending our class post cards from their vacations, I've got some great support this year.

This post card is from one of my most supportive parents.  Her and her fiancee went on an amazing South American adventure and sent us post cards from their journey!  This one has a stamp from "the end of the world" which is pretty cool.  Not only does it help us feel connected to others, but it provided an awesome authentic moment to do a geography lesson.

But that turned into a lesson on how the hemispheres have opposite seasons due to the earth's tilt.  Which then turned into a lesson on the inner and outer planets.  Then one of my students brought up Pluto and it's declassification as a planet, so then we had that discussion.  Naturally, astronauts came up next...and that's just sometimes how learning unfolds in my classroom.

I so desperately wanted to show them this,

but realized it would be highly inappropriate.  #thestruggleisreal

Photography Challenge, Day 2: In My Hands...

Day 2 (of 30) and attempting to be consistent with this photography challenge:

Yesterday, during my {Younique} bash, my pup Waffles was incredibly well behaved.  She's two and very much still a puppy.  She did eagerly stare down everyone with food in their hands and showed off her ability to shake, but politely interacted with everyone (meaning giving kisses whether or not they were asked for).

I was so proud of how well she behaved.

Of course, she must have only been on her best behavior for guests because she ate my wicker basket.

So ladies and gentlemen, here's day 2 of the photography challenge:

She's not sorry.  At all.  Don't let that face fool you!

April Photography Challenge

I get bored with repetition.  So for the month of April, I thought it would be fun to participate in this photography challenge:

Day 1: Something purple:

I hosted a {Younique} Lipstains & Lularoe party this morning with one of my close friends.  We were supposed to have it last month, but the whole bronchitis/sinus infection/ear infection situation got in the way of the event.

So we were all set up for brunch:

We aren't very good sales people because we were way more focused on mimosas and girl talk then selling make up and clothes.  Hopefully our friends appreciate our super low key vibe (and we did make some sales).

Now here's the bad news...the lip stains are still on my arm a full eight hours later.  I went bowling with the colorful streaks. The staying power is real.

Engagement pictures scheduled!

Our engagement pictures are scheduled!  Sunday, April 17th...at dusk.

My dear friend {Amy} will be taking our pictures in April.  She was one of the first people who heard about my first date with B over three years ago, so now it comes full circle and she gets to be with us to capture this special time for us.

In an attempt to keep this wedding thing as authentic as possible, we opted for a fun and quirky location for our engagement shoot.

We're taking our pictures at {Nelson's Landing}, which is a ghost town in Nevada. It's been featured on Ghost Adventures and has some old buildings, a crashed airplane, and lots of gorgeous desert scenery!

Amy has done shots there before (her images are below) and I love them!

Now...to contain my excitement until then!
